Did You Know...! about the oldest flag in the world is..?
The oldest, continuously used national flag is that of Denmark. The current design white Scandinavian cross on a red background was adopted in 1625 and it's square shape in1748. In Denmark, it is known as " ' the Dannebrog ' or 'Danish Cloth'.
Though Denmark was nit the part of Roman empire, similar designs were used by empire to represent Provinces, as a white cross is a symbolic of Christianity Scandinavian cross has it's horizontal stripe slightly to the left hand side of the square as you face it.
Although there is no prescribed definition of what constitutes "continuous" use, the Danish flag was certainly in use in 1370s,as the Gelre Armorial by claes Heinenzoon shows. It was also used in navel battels against Sweden in 1560s.
